Before (April) and After (June) II

Here are some more "before" and "after" shots of the garden. (BTW, I noticed that my last post on this topic ended up formatted a little strangely -- sorry about that. I was trying to post photos side by side and I noticed -- after the fact -- that it didn't display well on M's laptop at home until I added a bunch of spacing in there, but that makes it look weird on my machine at work. Oh well. I'll just lay out the photos vertically this time.)

Back Bed
The angles from which these two photos were taken aren't exactly the same, but you get the idea.

Back Bed, North Corner
The big surprise in this corner is how well the Ageratum houstonianum (aka floss flower) did. I grew a few of these last year, and they didn't get nearly so big. It's probably proof of how much better the soil is, thanks to the raised bed project. The bumblebees love it!

Back Bed, South Corner
This area has its own surprise: the incredible spreading Agastache foeniculum (anise hyssop) "Golden Jubilee," which is that gorgeous chartreuse plant whose leaf color lights up the whole corner. Eventually, it will have purple "bottle-brush" shaped blooms, but I'm thrilled to have it just for the foliage. I had no idea it would get this big; clearly, it's very happy here.

You know the backbed south corner is my favorite. I love the colors there.

I should totally do a little feature on YOUR garden, which is soooo cute this year. :)
